The ErzgebirgeRäuchermännchen - is a small and thoughtful little figure of a man, made of wood and smoking a pipe. With the "Räucherkerzchen" ( a scented, fumigating candles) they must have already been a part of the Christmas decorations at the beginning of the 19th. century and since then have become a tradition, lovingly adhered too. Today it is not at all possible to say exactly when the first smoking figures appeared.
The Smoky Menalso known as Smokers or in Germany as Räuchermänn, have become a Christmas tradition in many countries. Now the lovely incense burning smokers are available in many styles and designs for throughout the year.
Other Smokers: Smoky Houses and Mushroom Smokers are a couple of alternatives to the traditional Smoky Men and can also be used all year round.
